2026 Winter Tree ID

February 26, 2026

Join the Nebraska Arborists Association for Winter Deciduous Tree ID, a one-day, in-depth workshop designed to strengthen your ability to identify Nebraska’s most common trees in their winter form. This course goes beyond the basics, building on material from the NAA Fall Tree ID, Selection, and Evaluation program to enhance year-round identification skills and professional expertise.

Led by instructor Justin Evertson, participants will explore key morphological characteristics used in tree identification, including branch and twig structure, bark texture and patterns, buds, leaf scars, lenticels, pith, and persistent fruit and leaves. The day will include both indoor image review and discussion, along with an outdoor identification component (weather permitting).

This course is approved for 6.0 ISA and NAA CEUs and is ideal for arborists, urban foresters, and tree care professionals looking to sharpen their diagnostic skills and confidence in the field.
